This year’s flood was difficult for every single victim in Thailand. Unfortunately, my house was flooded, but my family is currently safe. The water is above my head in front of my house, so we had relocated and moved to the northern of Thailand in Khao Yai. We didn’t have much problem because we owned a house in Khao Yai. The weather at Khao Yai was very good, but the only problem was that the Internet was extremely slow because the signal was projected from an iPhone. Most of the time, I would be using the Internet through my iPad. My dad was a bit stressed out because his factory and his office were flooded really bad. Now, he feels better because the water at the factory has dried out from the 10 pumps he had placed around the factory to pump the water out. The current situation is okay. It is really hard to get in and out my house because the water is still really high in front of my house, but because my house is in a higher level than the water, my house inside is dry and clean. Sometimes the light would shut off automatically, but luckily I had an electric generator, which could provide me with a limited amount of electricity. I had been doing my best on keeping up with the online learning. I may had turn in some works late, and that is because of the low signal Internet that had been connecting and disconnecting most of the time, which ruins the Gmail upload. I think I can be able to return to school on Monday because of the 55 centimeters of water that had reduced since a week ago in my area.
The flood had caused damage to many things. I believe that the short term effects after the flood would be the industrial damages, the mosquitoes problem that could cause people malaria, and the restoration of the houses and properties. The long term problems would be the roads that had been havoc, the homeless people that have nowhere to live, and destroyed crops. Rice and vegetables would be extremely expensive, along with clean water. Before my family had decided to move to Khao Yai away from the water, we had bought so much bags of rice as a surplus because we’ve predicted that price of the rice would be remarkably high after the crisis.
During the past month, I had really wanted to help the people in need. There was a program that had opened for volunteers to participate and make EM balls to improve the water quality at flooding areas. I believe that every acts count, so my siblings and me had decided to join the program and we spend a day making them. I had thought of ways to help the people in need, and I think donation is the easiest way we could help. I would really want to donate money, clothing, and food if I had the chance to do it. I think the most helpful people in this situation were the volunteered soldiers. I really want to thank the soldiers for helping the people in need. I had watch the news about a soldier who died trying to safe an 80 year old man, but he had died in honor.
